How to get a Chinese driver's license
Foreigners or Chinese who hold a foreign driver's license can apply for a Chinese driver's license in the city where they live in China. They can get a Chinese driver's license only after passing the subject 1 test.
Required documents: passport and visa, foreign driver's license and Chinese translation documents, proof of residence or temporary residence registration form for overseas personnel, photos, and medical examination form for motor vehicle drivers.
Where to apply: The vehicle management office in the city where you live.
Special note: If foreigners do not have a foreign driver's license, they need to register at a driving school and take all the examinations, including Subject 1, Subject 2, Subject 3 and Subject 4. Only after passing all the examinations can they obtain a Chinese driver's license.
